When you make Posts and Pages, you can organize and label your content by using categories. Categories drive your reporting and let you set up dynamic sections that automatically pull in relevant content. We'll take a look at each case and recommend some best practices for optimizing your categories.
Whenever you make a new Post or Page, you'll find categories in the first Info step. After you add a Title and Description, use the dropdown to pick the category for your new content.
Categories in Activate are fixed, but there are over 75 to choose from. You can see a full list below.

In Activate, you can set up your sections to be static or dynamic. Dynamic sections pull in Pages and Posts automatically based on different criteria—the most important is the category.
When you make a dynamic section based on a category, it'll pull in every piece of content in that category so you can display it for your members in a list or a page in the app.

Each Channel is a little different, but there are a few tips you can use to make sure you get the most effective reporting and maintain your sections without too much mess.
Look out for the Other category
Other is a good category to use when nothing else really fits, but if you find that a high percentage of your content is labeled as Other, it stops being so useful. Check your report regularly—if a lot of your content is Other, it might be time to reassess which categories you should be using.
With a lot of options, it's important that you and your team decide together what you want to use—and what those categories mean to your property. Make a plan, stick to it, and reap the benefits with meaningful results and reporting.
Stick to a handful
It can get a little hard to keep track of, so it helps to pick 10 to 15 categories that are going to be your main labels and try to only use that select group. To help you choose, here's a list of every possible category listed below.
