The Content Builder lets you click, drag, and drop different content blocks to build and edit all of your Posts, and Pages. We'll explore in this guide how build and edit your content layouts—you can learn how to use each content block in the other guides of this section.
The content builder
Whenever you make a Post or a Page, you'll use the content builder in the Editor step to build, edit, and rearrange the look and feel of your content.
Everything in Activate is made up of content blocks—the list on the left. Click and drag a content block to add it to the content you're building, or double-click an item to add it to the bottom.
Using content blocks
As you build your content, each block will show up on the Block Outline at the right. Hover to highlight where a block is, then click to select it. You can click and drag blocks here to rearrange the order.
Once you add a block, adjust the settings to the left—you can learn more about each content block in our other guides.
To move a block, select it, then click and drag Move to where you want the block. You can also use the arrows to bump it up or down. Click Delete to remove the block and Clone to make a copy. If you want to add a link, click the Link option and add the destination URL.
You can Save your content whenever you like, then find it in your drafts to continue your edits later.
Containers
Containers are content blocks that hold other content blocks. You can even put containers inside other containers. Unlike feeds or lists, the items inside a container don't change over time—use them to arrange things in your Page or Post into columns and rows. Containers can hold links, images, text, data input fields, and pins for other content.
To add a container, head to the container section in the content blocks list and make your selection.
Use the container block for the most flexibility. Add a background image or choose your background color, then click and drag other content blocks into the container to fill it. One good way to fill a container is with the content block—you can display pins or icons for other related content in one convenient place on a Post or Page.
Once you add other content blocks, use the padding, spacing, and alignment options to customize how everything will display in the container:
- Resize mode changes the dimensions of your background image in relation to the container.
- Padding adjusts the amount of space above, below, and to the sides of the content.
- Direction arranges your items horizontally or vertically.
- Alignment changes the arrangement of your items relative to the container direction.
- Justify content changes the spacing between elements in relation to your alignment and direction.
- Spacing creates space between each individual item equally.
The row container arranges items horizontally. You can enable Scroll Horizontally to arrange them on a single row or let them flow onto another row automatically. Adjust the padding to change the spacing above and below the content.
The column container arranges items vertically. It's a good way to arrange scrolling content within a Page or Post.
Restore version
Each time you Save your content, Activate creates a new version. You can see your version history and restore an older version whenever you like.
In any step of the content builder, use the dropdown and click the Restore button to go back to a previous version.
