There are a couple of different ways to sign up for Activate. In this guide, we'll check out how you can login and start getting updates and participating in your community in no time.
Joining Activate channels
To get access to the good stuff, you'll need to be invited to join a channel—or sign up to a public channel yourself.
By invitation
If you know you're being invited to join, check your email for the invitation from your workplace. All you need to do is click the link to sign up.
By self registration
If you're signing up on your own, you can download Activate from the App Store or Google Play and join a public Channel whenever you want.
Enter your name, email, and create a password. You will then be prompted to search for your company name.
💡 Note: some people have unique, branded experiences for their workplace or company, but the process is still the same. Just be aware that the desktop URL or the app name might be different than Activate. |
Signing up
On mobile, download the VTS Activate app for free—you can find it in the App store or Google Play.
Once you're good to go, open Activate and enter your workplace email. Add your login info, find your workspace or company, and you're in! You might need to verify your email—just find the message in your inbox and click the Verify Email button. Activate doesn't send notifications to unverified emails or phones, so make sure you get verified to see the latest updates.
On desktop, you can go to the VTS Activate login page and select Sign Up to create an account too.
Single sign-on
For some customers and locations, you can use another account to log in to Activate—otherwise known as SSO (single sign-on). If your workplace email is connected to your SSO provider, it will prompt you to log in directly to that account.
Once you link your account, you can log in to Activate directly from your SSO without having to enter a password. Today, Activate offers SSO with:
- Apple
- Microsoft (Azure Active Directory)
- Okta
💡 Note: if you were invited to Activate and you want to use Sign in with Apple, make sure you avoid the hide my email option when you sign up—otherwise you might not be able to access your invite. |
Joining channels
Once you're signed up, you can find channels for stuff out there besides your dedicated workplace—you might want to follow local businesses, other hubs in your company's ecosystem, and more. To join a new channel:
- Go to your profile.
- Hit Add a new workplace.
- Search for the building or company you want to join.
- Use switch workplace to change back and forth as you like.
Different channels have different join rules. Some are private and can't be searched, some are invite only, and some require you to have a specific email. Coordinate with the property or the company if you know you should be in a channel, but you're having a hard time joining—they might just need to send you a quick invite.
Deleting your account
It happens.
To delete your account:
- Login to the desktop browser.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Select Delete Account and confirm.
Your request will be sent to VTS and deleted within 30 days.
You'll delete any identifying info like your name, email, and contact info. Any metrics in Activate will list you as Deleted User.
Inactivity
Activate's all about community participation, so if you don't log in for 24 months, your user will be considered inactive and removed. Don't worry—you'll get a warning email to sign back in if you want to keep your account.
