How do I update the web app vs mobile app?
If you log into VTS Activate from a desktop browser you are always using the most up to date version so there is no need for you to update anything.
On the mobile app most devices will automatically update when a new version is released.
Some devices, due to security or other settings, might not automatically update. The quickest way, in this case, to get the most current version is to delete your existing VTS Activate app and download from the iPhone app store or Google Play Store. The version you download will be the most up to date version.
To find what version you are currently using on your phone, open the VTS Activate app, click into Settings then Account Settings, scroll to the bottom and you will see something like v.5.59.0 which is your current app version number.
How do I join (subscribe) to a new channel?
In the web app simply click on the person icon in the top right corner of the page. In here click the Buildings & Companies tab, search for the channel you want to join, click on it then click Confirm. Now, using the channel switcher in the top right corner you will be able to view that channel.
On the mobile app click the person icon at the bottom of the screen, in the main menu click Subscriptions, search for the Channel you want to join, click on the Channel and then click Yes, Join. Now, back in the main menu, you can click the Switch icon to change from one channel to another.
How do I switch between channels?
On the web app you can use the channel switcher in the top right corner to choose what channel you want to view.
On the mobile app you can click the person icon at the bottom of the screen then, in the main menu, you can select Manage your workplaces to change from one channel to another.
How do I control what channels I get notifications from?
In the VTS Activate app you get notifications for any building/channel that you are subscribed to. If you want to change notification settings for a specific building/channel simply switch to that building then click the gear icon at the top right and choose what kind of (if any) notification you want to get from that channel.
On the mobile app simply switch to the desired channel, click the person icon and in here click Channel Settings and choose what kind of (if any) notification you want from that channel.
How do I create a team?
Teams are groups of people who have the same permissions and requirements. They are also a convenient way to target information to specific groups of people.
🧠 Note: New teams can ONLY be created by a user with Admin level permissions on the desktop.
💡 Tip: Before creating a new team it is recommended you export permissions from a team that has a similar level of access to the new one you have in mind (see the below article for more details)
To create a new team in the Admin View go to Team Management under Channel Settings. Click on New Team, enter a new team name, choose if it’s a Public team and, if required, set the maximum number of users that can be part of this team. You can then import the permission set that you previously exported and just configure/update what’s needed for the new team, then click Create.
How do I add members to a team?
In the Admin View, expand Channel Settings and click on Team Management.
Click on the name of the team that you want to add someone to. If this person is not already part of another team or channel then click Invite, enter their name and email and click Send.
If they are already part of another channel or team then click Add User, choose what other team they are assigned to (you might need to switch to another channel to find them), once you find them click their name then click Add User.
How do I switch between the Member and Admin Views?
In the desktop app, click the channel selector in the top right corner and, if you have appropriate permissions, at the bottom you will have an option to Switch to admin on current channel name.
Content creation, user management, and most other administrative tasks can only be done in the desktop view.
To access the admin functions in the mobile app, click the Profile tab (with the icon of a person) in the bottom right corner.
Click on Switch Building, look down the list of channels you are subscribed to and click the Admin button.
