Surveys are a great way to gauge how members feel about current services and what they'd like to see in the future. They can be short polls or long questionnaires—time-based or static.
Creating surveys
Surveys are interactive content. You can make a post if the survey has a start and end date or a page if you want members to come back and submit periodically. Try using an Activate template for a foundation to build your own, like the post-event survey.
Some important features to consider are:
-
Include Company: identify where the member's coming from.
-
Time Reset: create a permanent surveys (as Pages), that reset for the member to submit more responses.
Even more important are data inputs you can analyze once people submit:
-
Text input: for names, single line answers, multi-line answers.
-
Number inputs: 3 types of ways to input a number.
-
Contact information: fields designed to accept email addresses, phone numbers and more.
-
Date and time: several ways for a member to enter a date, time, date range, time range.
-
Dropdowns, checkboxes, radio buttons: several ways for a member to choose from various options.
⚠️ Make sure you're adding content to the Values fields when using radio buttons, checkboxes, or dropdowns. |
Once you've configured the features and data inputs, they'll appear in the Layout tab of the Editor step where you can drag and drop as a custom block.
Use workflows to automate messages to the member after they submit. For a survey, you can create workflows for:
-
Confirmation of submission
-
Reminders before the survey period ends
Targeting and QR codes
Targeting can be a big part of your survey—you can send them to the whole channel, or you can create an audience of specific teams in your channel.
You can even create a QR code and add it to digital or physical media around your space or property to drive engagement for the survey. Just remember that your channel settings might affect who can participate—if your channel is private, people can't respond unless they sign up or are invited directly to the channel your survey's published on.
Results
Once the survey period has ended, you can download the results from the Table tab of the interactive content item:
You can analyze the results using a spreadsheet or database app.
