What's the difference?
Notifications and Notices are both important parts of getting information to your subscribers, but they do different things.
Here's a quick guide to the difference between a notification and a notice:
Notification
A Notification is an alert that is sent to a user from the platform in the form of an email, SMS (text) or push notification, depending on the user's settings. Notifications can be managed by the individual user, per channel, in the channel settings page in both the mobile and desktop views.
A Notification draws the user's attention to a new Notice, Post, Page and other new content in a timely manner.
Notice
A notice is a short, text-only message posted in a channel, used typically to alert subscribers to timely information, urgent messages, or key building updates.
Notices can be targeted to any recipient, regardless of their notification settings for that channel.
Note: It is possible to include a Notification when creating a Notice, which should be reserved only for highly important and time-sensitive information that the targeted recipient must see. |
