In VTS Activate for Multifamily, there are three property roles for users. This article will discuss the three roles and explain what features they have access to.
Property Management Role
The Property Manager user role provides full administrative and configuration access to the Activate Multifamily platform. This user will see all available features within the platform and has the ability to designate which features the Residents and Staff see in their experience when logged into the platform. This user has the ability to create, manage, and remove users.
This user will also have access to the engagement features on the platform, including but not limited to:
- Newsfeed Post Creation, Approval & Removal
- Poll Creation & Management
- Forms/Survey Creation & Management
- Events Management
Platform Access: Web-Based Portal
The Property Management user role has access to the web-based Admin Portal.
Some examples of Property Management roles include Property Managers, Property Administrators, Event Coordinators, and Leasing Agents.
Along with being able to see new Work Order and Reservation requests on the Dashboard screen, these users are notified via email for items such as:
- New Reservations
- App Registration/ Approval Requests
- New Work Orders
- Payment Status
- User Marketplace/ Newsfeed Post Approval Requests (when approval is set to "Required")
- New Form Submissions
- Event RSVPs
Note: Property Management / Admin roles do not have access to the app with their login. If you would like to view the app in either the Resident or Staff experience, you may use an alternate account. |
Property Staff Role
The Property Staff user roles allow Property Managers to create role-specific experiences for Property Staff members. Individual features can be enabled and disabled based on each user's job function.
For example, a Chief Engineer may have access to the Work Orders and Property Newsfeed feature to keep up to date on building updates, while a Security Staff member may have access to Visitor Management, Resident Directory, and Daily Activity Report features.
Platform Access: Web-Based Portal & Mobile Application
The Property Staff user role has access to the web-based Staff Portal as well as the Activate Home mobile app.

Users are notified via push and badge notifications in the mobile application and via in-app browser notifications in the web-based portal. Within the mobile application, users have the ability to select the specific notifications they would like to receive.
