What are Tabs?
Tabs are the different sections of a Channel. They are the “landing pages” in the Member View.
Tabs on the Desktop View
Tabs on the Mobile App
How are Tabs created?
Tabs are created and managed in the Tab Management area of the Admin View.
Access to this tool is managed by Team Permissions:
How many tabs are allowed?
A Channel can have up to four tabs, along with the fifth Profile tab.
Five tabs is the maximum recommended due to the size of the mobile view.
How are tabs created?
1. First create the tab pages in the Page Center
2. Next, go to Tab Management and create a New Tab.
3. Enter the details for the tab:
-
Tab Name: Shown in Tab Management
-
Link URL: automatically created from the Tab Name (lower case with - for spaces)
-
Tab Label: The name visible in the Member View
-
Icon: Select from the FontAwesome library, shown above the Tab Label in the Member View
-
Select your page: choose the destination Page in the Page Center
4. Select Save to create the Tab.
Managing Tab Pages
Since Tabs are linked to published Pages, if the published Page is unpublished or deleted, the Tab is deleted also.
Therefore, do not delete Tab Pages!
Tabs from the Parent Organization
Tabs created in the Parent Organization will appear in child channels as additional tabs.
In general it is best to avoid creating tabs at the top level, but there are scenarios where it might be useful as long as:
-
The Parent Organization has content relevant to all child channels
-
Members are enrolled at the Parent Organization and are able to access content in it
What Tabs are commonly used?
Every channel is different, depending on branding and purpose. However there are some common themes most VTS Activate customers tend to have.
